I have to ask this question.

What’s the point of Twitter? Why should I care if someone I’m “following” just had a bagel or had a supposedly “brilliant” thought?

It seems to be a favourite meeting place right now for a lot of people who are trying to sell services to others. But wouldn’t that time be better spent actually trying to meet people in person and exchanging on various topics?

It seems to me that the best way to make a good impression on others, whether an employer, prospect, client or colleague, is to meet them in person and to engage them in reasoned and intelligent dialogue. Another highly effective way of showing one’s intellectual breadth and mental agility is to write cogently (which more and more people are incapable of).

I fail to see how nattering in a stream of consciousness fashion over the internet meets that goal.
